MacroSolve’s digiTICKET and the City of Sand Springs Are Finalists For Innovation Award
Oklahoma Municipal League Innovations Award Winner to be Announced This Week
TULSA, Okla., September 21, 2009 - Anyware Mobile Solutions, a division of MacroSolve, Inc. (OTCBB:MCVE) announced today that its client, the City of Sand Springs, has been selected as a finalist in the 2009 Oklahoma Municipal League Innovations Awards for its implementation of digiTICKET™, Anyware’s electronic ticketing solution.
At the beginning of the 2009 fiscal year, the City of Sand Springs mandated that no new programs could be started unless it could be proven that they would ultimately save money for the city. Since its implementation, digiTICKET has allowed the city to use its resources, both money and employees, more efficiently. The implementation of digiTICKET has:
- Eliminated the need to hand enter tickets. Sand Springs has been able to reallocate staff duties within the city and assure all work is completed without having to fill vacant positions
- Eliminated the need for the City to purchase and use multi-form ticket books. All ticket information is given to the appropriate individuals electronically, leaving only one paper copy for the defendant.
- Reduced by half the amount of time officers spend on each traffic stop. Officers are back on the street faster and therefore available for more calls.
“We are very proud of our electronic ticketing project with digiTICKET. In this economy when every area has taken cuts, we have chosen to step out and be innovative. This has resulted in a project that is keeping our officers safer and more efficient which benefits our citizens. We are very impressed by Anyware Mobile Solutions and their dedication to helping us achieve our vision for this project. We ultimately are most proud that we have pioneered this technology for the State of Oklahoma and foresee that this technology will be the standard in how citations are given by all officers. I am confident that Anyware Mobile Solutions will be the driving force behind this new paradigm in police technology,” stated Mike Carter, Assistant Chief of Police, Sand Springs.
According to the Oklahoma Municipal League (OML), the goal of the Innovations Awards is to encourage the sharing of ideas among OML members and to demonstrate to the public, the legislature, the state and the media that municipalities are innovative. The Innovations Award will be presented to the municipality deemed “most innovative” by a panel of judges comprised of municipal officials.
“We are very excited for City of Sand Springs. They had very specific goals for the implementation of our digiTICKET electronic ticketing solution. The fact that they’re a finalist for this award that focuses on innovation that increases productivity and creates efficiencies in operations validates their objectives as well our belief in digiTICKET. We are seeing similar results in other cities we are working with and expect to continue to hear great news,” stated Eric Fultz, Vice President Anyware Mobile Solutions.
digiTICKET allows officers to enter driver information automatically into the application by scanning the bar code on the back of a driver license. The officer can enter multiple violations and capture the driver's signature electronically, all in a matter of minutes. The reduced time to issue tickets decreases the minutes an officer is standing roadside, where they are exposed to unnecessary risk. In 2008, the leading cause of death among U.S. police officers was being struck by a vehicle. The reduced use of paper products combined with the time saved in elimination of manual data entry at ticket processing points will allow police departments to cut operating costs around ticket processing. In addition, city revenues can increase through a reduction in unusable tickets due to manual errors on paper tickets.
